Purpose

Please read the following short paragraph carefully, as it explains the purpose and methods of this experiment. This study examines how perceptions of an agent can influence group decision-making. Previous research shows that people often behave differently when interacting with AI agents compared to humans, attributing social characteristics to AI agents that shape their strategic behaviour.

This Study

In this experiment, all participants experienced the same conditions. At the introduction, you were told that you might be playing in groups with different combinations of humans and AI agents. In reality, all the players you interacted with during the game were human participants; No AI agents were involved. By varying the descriptions of group members, we sought to influence participants’ perceptions of their partners and observe how negotiation strategies and social norms changed depending on perceived group composition. The results will help us understand how technological framing can influence human strategic decisions.
