Title of Study: “Multilateral Bargaining Game”
Principal Investigator: Dr Tahmineh Godazgar, Trinity College Dublin, School of Sociology
You are invited to participate in a study exploring how people negotiate and form agreements, particularly in mixed groups of humans and AI agents. Your participation helps us understand real-world strategic behavior.
The aim is to investigate group decision-making, fairness, and cooperation in time-sensitive negotiation scenarios. This includes comparing human-only groups with mixed human–AI interactions.
You will take part in an online negotiation game with two other participants (humans or AI). The game lasts multiple short rounds where you select proposals on a triangular board. It takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete.
No. Participation is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw at any time by closing the browser. If you withdraw, your data will not be used. After the study, you may contact the researcher to request data removal.
Yes. No personal identifying data will be collected. Your Prolific ID is only used for payment and not linked to your gameplay data. Data will be anonymized and securely stored for academic analysis.
There are no anticipated risks. While there are no direct personal benefits, your participation contributes to research on social negotiation and the design of human–AI systems.
Findings will be published in peer-reviewed academic journals and may be presented at conferences. All data shared will be fully anonymized and aggregated.
This study has received ethics approval from the University College Dublin’s Office of Research Ethics (Ref: .....).
You must be at least 18 years old and may only participate once.
