Welcome to our experiment. Please read the following instructions carefully.
You are part of 4 players.
3 of you will be neighbors while one of you will be the victim. The neighbors will be witnessing a robbery of the remaining payer. All players can decide whether to call the police or not. Calling the police comes with a cost of 5 points, but as a reward, you receive 10 points. So, the final payment would be 10-5=5 points. The other neighbors benefit from calling the police and receive 10 points.
One of the 4 players is going to be the victim who has to pay 5 points when nobody calls the police. If someone calls, the payoff of the victim amounts to 0 points.
The probability of being the victim itself is 1/4. The identity of the victim will only be revealed at the end. Each player will make a decision without prior knowledge of whether they will be designated as the victim.
