Instructions

Once Player B has completed the decoding task, Player B receives summary information about the own achievements. Specifically, Player B receives the total number of letter combinations he/she solved per round and performance information from a reference group (i.e., a different set of participants who completed the same task in an earlier session). Based on this information, Player B must provide an assessment of their own overall performance on that task (= self-assessment).

Together with the total number of decoded letter combinations that Player B solved per round and the information about the reference group, this self-assessment will then be forwarded to Player A. Player A’s task is then to evaluate Player B’s overall performance based on this information, on a scale ranging from 1 (extremely low) - 10 (extremely high) and supplement this assessment with a short explanation (2-3 sentences).

This overall performance evaluation and explanation for the evaluation will then be given to Player B at the end of today’s session.

However, we guarantee full anonymity. The performance evaluation and explanation will be sent anonymously to Player B via the computer screen. As such, Player B will not learn who the individual Player A was who evaluated Player B.

Compensation
Player A receives the fixed wage of 8 EUR for participating in this study. Player B also receives the fixed wage of 8 EUR for participating in this study. Additionally, Player B receives a 2 EUR bonus payment if the assessment they received from Player A was in the Top 25 percent of today’s session.
