The ladder below represents where people stand in the United States in terms of education, income, and job status.
People who are the worst off are at the very bottom position of the ladder (e.g., the first rung in the following ladder), and the people who are the best off are at the very top position of the ladder (e.g., the tenth rung in the following ladder). The higher up you are on this ladder, the closer you are to people at the very top (who have the most money, best education and the most respected jobs), and the lower you are, the closer you are to people at the very bottom (who have the least money, least education, and the east respected jobs.)
