ORAL ORDER

The Unit was served with notice dated 30.1.1997 under section 31-A of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. It was noticed that the Unit had failed to provide adequate air pollution control equipment to control the emission of particulate matter SO2 and NO2 into the atmosphere. It was also noticed that the unit has failed to operate and maintain air pollution control equipment efficiently. It was further observed that the level of the noise measured at different location in the nearby residential area were ranging between 75 DBCA and 110 DBCA for which the residents of the nearby area made several complaints.

On or about 15-4-1997, the Unit was directed, with a view to reduce the propagation of noise towards the residential area, to procure green belt alongwith the periphery of the unit and go for plantation in three rows.

The Unit is directed to place on record the figures of turn over for the last three years.
