Shri Aditya Khandekar, Advocate for the respondent No. 2. The petitioner in the present Public Interest writ petition has sought to make river Narmada free of pollution so that the water can be used for drinking and for irrigation purposes.

Such grievance relates to violation of environment laws and water pollution laws. Such relief falls within the jurisdiction of National Green Tribunal as the environmental laws i.e. the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and the water pollution laws i.e. the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 fall within Schedule-I of the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.

Considering the view taken by the Supreme Court in the case reported as (2012) 8 SCC 326 (Bhopal Gas Peedith Mahila Udyog Sangathan vs. Union of India), the present petition is transferred to Bhopal Bench of the National Green Tribunal for further consideration.

Disposed of.
