You are invited to participate in a research study, entitled "The use of auxiliary hypotheses in mental model updating", conducted by Trisevgeni Papakonstantinou (email: trisevgeni.papakonstantinou.19[at]ucl.ac.uk) under the supervision of Prof. David Lagnado (d.lagnado[at]ucl.ac.uk) from University College London.

The purpose of this research study is to examine how people update their mental models in different domains. As part of the study, you will complete a short reasoning task by answering some questions. If you agree to participate, you will be presented with a short description of a person or a situation and asked to make some predictions, drawing conclusions according to the information you are given, and explain your reasoning behind them. This is presented on the computer screen. You will indicate your responses to some questions about the scenario. Some anonymous demographic questions, such as age, gender, highest education level, and political/religious views are included.

The activity will take approximately 15 minutes of your time.
