Instructions

In this experiment, you will be randomly placed into a group of three players and asked to make a decision. Everyone in your group has received the exact same instructions. However, it may be that people that are not in your group will participate in a different experiment.

There will be one round in this experiment. In this round, you and the other group members will communicate via a chat box. Depending on your role in the experiment, you may be paired with one of the group members. If this is the case, then you and the player you are paired with will simultaneously choose one of two actions, H or L. The payoff you earn will depend on both your action and the action of the person you are paired with.

If the person you are matched with chooses H, and you choose H, both of you earn 0 points. If the person you are matched with chooses L, and you choose H, you earn 200 points. whereas the other person earns 50 points. If the person you are matched with chooses H, and you choose L, you earn 50 points, whereas the other person earns 200 points. If the person you are matched with chooses L, and you choose L, you both earn 75 points. Table 1 given below summarizes the payoffs you and the other person you are matched with can get.
