After both managers submit their initial ratings, the ratings will be combined to create the business unit’s initial ratings. Both managers will see the business unit’s initial ratings, along with the lighting solution associated with each employee rating. The director will also see this information.
The director will then review the initial ratings. The director cannot adjust these ratings. After reviewing the ratings, the director will approve them and these ratings will become the finalized ratings for the business unit.
The business unit’s finalized ratings will be used to determine compensation, as described next.

Both managers will see the business unit’s initial ratings, along with the lighting solution associated with each rating. After reviewing this information, both managers can propose adjusting any of the ten employee ratings. Specifically, one manager will propose adjustments and the other will respond by either accepting them or proposing further adjustments.
The order in which managers propose an adjustment is predetermined and random. If both managers do agree to an adjustment, then the business unit’s initial ratings are adjusted to reflect this change. If both managers do not agree to an adjustment after 2 rounds, then the rating is not adjusted and the initial rating is used. After this process, both managers will see the business unit’s revised initial ratings.
The director will then review the revised initial ratings. The director cannot adjust these ratings. After reviewing the ratings, the director will approve them and these ratings will become the finalized ratings for the business unit.
The business unit’s finalized ratings will be used to determine compensation, as described next.
