Thank you for participating in today’s study. In this study, participants will work in groups of two. You will be randomly matched with another participant and complete several tasks together. One of you will be randomly assigned the role of “Group Member A,” and the other will be randomly assigned as “Group Member B.”
There are two parts in today’s study. In the first part, your group will participate in a game that is similar to the “coin-tossing” game. However, instead of guessing the “tail” or the “head,” your group will guess a computer randomly-generated number.
Here is how the game works:
(1) The computer will randomly generate an integer between 0 and 100.
(2) Both group members will input a number that is between 0 and 100. You (your group member) will not know your group member’s (your) guessed number.
(3) Whoever has the number that is closest to the computer-generated number is the winner.
For example:
(1) The computer randomly generated 50.
(2) Group member A made a guess of 45 and group member B made a guess of 90.
(3) Group member A wins.
You are randomly assigned the role of Group Member A. The computer has randomly generated an integer that is between 0 and 100.
