Next, you will observe outcomes for 30 periods. Each outcome can either be a success which gives you 1000 points or a failure which gives you 0 points. You will be asked to report your views about factors influencing the outcomes, and make decisions that potentially affect your bonus payment.
At the start of period 1, you will be assigned a robot assistant. There is a 50% probability of receiving a robot assistant with Good quality and a 50% probability of receiving a robot assistant with Bad quality.
The probability of success in each period depends on two factors:
The probability of success is determined as follows:
| The probability of success | Good robot | Bad robot |

| Bottom Half | 50% | 25% |
After observing outcomes for 5 periods, you will be asked to report:
Bonus payment rule
If Part 2 is selected for bonus payment, the computer will randomly select one of the following:
If A. is selected, a success earns 1000 points and a failure earns 0 points. If B. or C. is selected, we reward the accuracy of your guess by using a payment rule that secures the highest expected chance of winning 1000 points when you provide your most-accurate guess. Details of the payment rule are available at the end of the experiment.
On the next page, you will be asked, "What is 2 + 2?". You must answer 10 instead of 4. If your answer is incorrect, you will be redirected back to this page to re-read the instructions.
