    <u>The payment rule for the likelihood report</u>

<p>
The payment rule for likelihood reports is based on the likelihood you reported about the event and whether the event actually happened.
    These events include whether you are ranked in the Top Half, and whether the robot quality is Good.
</p>

    If you report a likelihood of X%:
<ul>
	<li>If the event happened, you receive 1000 points with probability 1 − (1 − X/100)², and 0 points otherwise.</li>
	<li>If the event did not happen, you receive 1000 points with probability 1 − (X/100)², and 0 points otherwise.</li>
</ul>


Suppose you report a 70% likelihood that you will be ranked in the Top Half:
	<ul>
	<li>If you are ranked in the Top Half, your chance of receiving 1000 points is 91%.</li>
	<li>If you are not ranked in the Top Half, your chance of receiving 1000 points is 51%.</li>
		</ul>

This payment rule ensures that reporting your most accurate guess gives you the best expected chance of earning the bonus. For example:
<ul>
	<li>Suppose you believe the true likelihood of being ranked in the Top Half is 70%, but you report 50% instead.
		If you are actually ranked in the Top Half, your chance of earning 1000 points is 1-(1-0.5)²=0.75 or 75%,
		which is lower than 1-(1-0.7)²=0.91 or 91% if you report truthfully.</li>
	<li>Suppose you believe the true likelihood of being ranked in the Top Half is 30%, but you report 50% instead.
		If you are actually not ranked in the Top Half, your chance of earning 1000 points is 1-(0.5)²=0.75 or 75%,
		which is lower than 1-(0.3)²=0.91 or 91% if you report truthfully.</li>
