There are two work periods in Part 3.
Employees
The two employees in each group who were not promoted will continue performing the Part 2 task in each of the two periods. That is, they will solve math problems, with 3 minutes to solve problems and earning $0.15 per correct answer given.
Managers
Those promoted to manager will now perform a different task. The manager task is to form words from a set of letters. The managers will receive honeycomb grids of letters that require them to unjumble the 7-letters in the grid to form words of 5 or more letters. Their objective is to score points by finding as many 5+ letter words as possible in 3 minutes. Words can be formed using any of the letters in the grid; however, it is required to use the highlighted letter in the center of the grid in every word. Here are the rules for valid words:

| Word Length | Points |
|---|---|
| 5 letters | 1 |
| 6 letters | 2 |
| 7 letters | 3 |
| 8+ letters | 5 |
Managers will earn $0.20 for each point earned on their task. The manager will also earn $0.03 for each math problem solved by the two employees in their group. Finally, the manager will earn 2% of the total pay earned by all participants in Business Unit A (including their group and the other group in the business unit).
Senior Manager
At the end of the first period in Part 3, the manager with the best performance, accounting for their group’s performance, will be promoted to a new position as senior manager for Business Unit A and oversee both groups in the Business Unit. The senior manager will still complete the word creation task. However, the difficulty of these puzzles will be much higher than before and the pay per point will increase to $0.35 per point for the senior manager. The senior manager will also earn 3% of the total pay earned by all participants in Business Unit A.
