Instructions

In this experiment, you get a chance to earn monetary reward by solving a series of problems. You will do this in a group with 3 other people who are randomly drawn from the 60 participants in this study. Each person in your group has been assigned one of these two roles:

  1. Leader who proposes answers
  2. Member who votes Yes/No to Leader's answer (Accept/Reject)

The Leader in your group has been chosen and has attempted to solve the problems. You will see the Leader's first name, age and his/her decisions.

You have been chosen to play Member role: your task is to vote yes or no to the Leader's answers (Accept/Reject). The other two Members in your group will also cast their votes.

Your monetary reward is determined as follows.

If the majority of your group voted Yes to Leader's answer (Accept) and Leader's answer is correct, you and everyone in your group including the Leader will receive {{ C.GROUP_REWARD }}.

If your group voted No the Leader's answer by majority (Reject), an answer will be randomly picked from the remaining options. If that random pick is correct, you and everyone in your group including the Leader will receive {{ C.GROUP_OUTSIDE }}.

There is no monetary reward for incorrect answer.

There will be 4 problems in total. We will randomly pick 1 of 4 problems to see how your group voted and whether your group answers correctly and is eligible to bonus payment.

We count the votes in a separate session after you and other Members have voted. Because of this, you will learn about your payoffs after a few days.

After you have voted in the group problem-solving task, you'll see instructions to complete a short survey. Once you reach the end of the survey, you'll be redirected to Prolific.
