# Experiment Instructions for Participants ## What is this? You will be participating in an **economic decision-making study** as part of a classroom exercise. The experiment takes approximately **10 minutes** and is conducted through your web browser. ## Before You Begin - Make sure you have a **stable internet connection**. - Use a **laptop or desktop computer** (not a phone) for the best experience. - **Do not close your browser or navigate away** from the experiment once it has started. If you leave, it may disrupt the experiment for your group. - All decisions are **anonymous** — no one will know what choices you made. ## How to Join 1. Your instructor will share a **link** to the experiment. 2. When you open the link, you will be asked to **enter your name**. Please enter your **real name** so your participation can be recorded. 3. You will then be placed in a **waiting room** until the instructor starts the session. 4. Once the session begins, you will be taken to the first page of the experiment. ## What to Expect 1. **Welcome page** — You will enter your name and class. 2. **No-deception policy** — A brief notice confirming that everything in the experiment is truthful. 3. **Instructions** — You will read several pages of instructions explaining how the experiment works. Please read these carefully. 4. **Comprehension quiz** — You must answer a short quiz to confirm you understand the rules. If you get any questions wrong, you can try again. 5. **Waiting for your group** — After passing the quiz, you will wait briefly for all members of your group to be ready. 6. **The experiment** — You will play **10 rounds** of a group decision-making game in groups of 5 (1 Leader and 4 Group Members). Each round, you will make decisions about how to allocate tokens. 7. **Survey** — After the final round, you will answer a few short survey questions. 8. **Completion** — You're done! ## Important Reminders - **Stay on the page.** Do not close your browser tab or leave the experiment. Your group members are waiting for you each round. - **Pay attention to timers.** Some pages have time limits. If you don't respond in time, you may be marked as inactive. - **Read the instructions carefully.** You will need to pass a comprehension quiz before the experiment can begin. - **Be patient.** There are short waiting periods between rounds while other group members make their decisions. ## Questions?
