This is Task 2. In this task, there are two roles: Decider and Receiver. You will be randomly and anonymously matched with another participant, and each of you will be randomly assigned one of the two roles. The two of you will also be randomly matched with one of the three nonprofits from Task 1 (please see your reference sheets for more information about them). You will learn the identity of the Nonprofit at the end of the study.
The Decider receives {{C.ENDOWMENT}} and decides:
The Receiver does not have any influence on Task 2’s earnings. Each token earned in this task will be converted to dollar earnings at the same rate of 10 tokens = 1 USD.
You do not know the role that is assigned to you. Instead, in the next page you will be asked to choose how you would split the {{C.ENDOWMENT}} if you were the Decider.
At the end of the study, you will learn your role. If you were assigned the role of Decider, then your answers will be used to determine your, the Receiver, and the Nonprofit’s earnings in this task.
Otherwise, if you were assigned the role of Receiver, then the decisions made by the participant that you are matched with will be used to determine these earnings.
