In this experiment, you are in the role of a patient requiring several sessions of a treatment. After reading the instructions below, you have to pass the comprehension test on the next page. The experiment will start afterwards. Please consider that it will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Please assume that you visited a doctor for your illness, who decided that you need to get a treatment that will last 50 sessions. There are two clinics equidistant from your home. They both offer the treatment you are prescribed. The healthcare personnel and the facilities are equally good. Since all 50 treatment sessions are independent of each other, you are free to change the clinics between treatments. The only difference between the two clinics is the waiting times.
When you arrive at the clinic, you need to wait in the waiting room. The nurse will call you when you can enter the doctor's room, and you have to pay attention to the nurse's instructions, i.e., you have to click on the “Pay attention to the nurse” button or "Enter the doctor's room" whenever it occurs within 3 seconds. If you miss paying attention, i.e., pressing the button, you don’t get the treatment in this session, and you must attend an additional session.Only if you complete a total of 50 treatments you will get money from the insurance, i.e., if you complete this experiment, you will earn 4$.
