Description:

This scenario is about allocating a sum of money between yourself and two other people who are recruited on MTurk the same way as you are. The three of you will play the role of Person A, Person B, and Person C, and these roles will be randomly assigned.

Person A starts with some amount of money, while Person B and Person C both start with $0. Person A first decides how much of this money to keep for themselves and passes on the remaining amount to Person B.

Person B then receives the amount passed on to them and decides how much to keep for themselves and transfer to Person C.

Person C does not get to make any decision and simply receives the amount passed on to them after Person A, followed by Person B, have made their decisions.

Your role:

You are assigned to be Person A, and other MTurk participants will be Person B and Person C. You will take part in three rounds of the above scenario as Person A. You will start with some amount of money, and this amount will vary each round. After completing the three rounds, you will proceed with the next part of the study, which will have different directions.

How you are paid:

You will receive a participation fee of $2 when you complete the study.

In addition, there is a 20% chance that you will be randomly selected to receive a bonus payment. If you are selected to receive the bonus payment, one of the three rounds will be randomly chosen to determine your bonus payment. That is, each round has an equal ⅓ chance of being chosen.

Your bonus payment will be the amount that you decide to keep for yourself in that chosen round. If you are chosen for the bonus payment, Person B will receive the amount passed on by you from the same round, and they will decide the amount to transfer to Person C.
