Welcome to this study. The study will take about 45 minutes.  All the money you earn is yours to keep and will be paid to you in cash in private at the end of today’s session. Your confidentiality is assured.  Please do not talk to the other participants from this point on. If you have a question or anything you do not understand, please ask a researcher.     </p>

Thank you for participating in this experiment. You will be compensated with $10 CAD for your participation upon completion of today’s study. You will have the chance to earn up to $13.50 CAD in addition to the $10 participation compensation, dependent on your decisions in today’s experiment. This means, your minimum payment is $10 and your maximum payment is $23.50, $13.50 of which comes from the bargaining game and the knowledge check quiz, and $10 of which comes from your participation compensation. Please note, deception is not allowed in experimental economics. Therefore, all information presented to you is truthful.

This study uses experimental dollars (EXD) as its currency. This means all decisions are made in terms of experimental dollars. 10 EXD is worth 1 Canadian dollar (CAD). At the end of the study, you will be paid in cash in Canadian dollars.
