Role


You and all other participants in this study have been randomly assigned the role of either employee or manager in your company. The company is organized into teams. Each team consists of four members: one manager and three employees. Each team is responsible for its own output, and the company is more successful when teams produce higher output.

You have been randomly assigned the role of employee (A). You will be randomly matched with two other participants in the role of employee (B and C) and one participant in the role of manager. The four of you will remain matched together for the duration of the study.

You have been randomly assigned the role of manager. You will be randomly matched with three other participants in the role of employees. The four of you will remain matched together for the duration of the study.

You will work on your task for nine (9) independent periods.

Employees are responsible for deciding how to use resources that can increase the team’s total output. Managers are responsible for allocating any team {{ if player.condition == 1 or player.condition == 3 }}bonus received{{ else }}penalty imposed{{ endif }} to the employees on the team, as explained in more detail shortly. You will not need to communicate with any other participants at any time during the study.
