J ohnny Depp is known for his flowing dark locks and beautiful facial features but he has been spotted with a very different look on the set of his latest movie.

The actor is in Boston filming his new action film Black Mass and he has taken on a rather scary persona.

It seems as if he has put on a few pounds and his make-up artist has given him a slicked back grey do with a receding hairline and fake tan.

His costume is also a world away from Depp's usual boho style - fake leather jackets, gold chains and jeans help create the gangster image.

Johnny is playing the role of notorious Irish mob boss Whitey Bulger alongside an all-star cast that includes British stat Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson and Adam Scott.

The movie, which is due for release next year, will take Depp back to his more hard-hitting roots.
