   <p>Thank you for your interest in participating in this research project. Please read the following information about the project so that you can decide whether you would like to take part in this research.
   If you decide to participate in this research, please keep in mind that your participation is voluntary. Even if you agree to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time, in which case your data will be discarded.  Should you decide to withdraw, you will forgo your earnings. Your decision whether you take part, or not to take part, or to take part and then withdraw, will not affect your relationship with the University of Queensland.</p>

   <h5>What is this research about?</h5>

   <p>This study investigates the ways in which people make decisions.  The objective is to find out how the participants in this experiment make decisions in different environments.</p>

   <h5>What will I need to do?</h5>

   <p>You will be asked to answer some simple, non-personal questions and to allocate points to different accounts. Your payment will depend on the number of points you accumulate, which is based on your own decisions, others’ decisions, and on chance. The experiment will last approximately 30 minutes and you will be paid electronically at the end of the session via the bank account information you provide.</p>

   <h5>What are the possible risks and benefits of taking part?</h5>

   <p>This study does not involve any physical or psychological risks.  Providing you remain for the entire session, you will earn your payoff from the experiment, which will be a minimum of AUD 10 and averages AUD 25 per hour.  If you leave early, you will receive nothing.</p>

   <h5>What will happen to the information about me?</h5>

   <p>All the decisions that you make during the experiment will be recorded only by an anonymous subject number.  No personal identifying information will be collected in this study, and all participants shall remain anonymous.</p>

   <p>For the purposes of electronic payment however, you will need to provide your name and bank account information.  This data is collected solely for accounting purposes and will not be connected in any way to the decisions you make in the experiment.  Be assured that your name will not be associated in any way with the research findings and that your contribution will be completely confidential.</p>

   <p>It is anticipated that the results of this research project will be published and/or presented in a variety of forms and the data will be shared with other researchers in line with open science practices. In any publication and/or shared dataset, no personal or identifying information about you will be provided.</p>

   You are invited to take part in a research study on group problem-solving.
   We are conducting this research as part of our PhD research. This is funded by the University of Warwick.

We will explain how the game works in more detail before the game begins. Once you finish the game, you will be given instructions about how to collect your payment, including any additional funds earned during the game.
   </p>
   <p>
      All of your responses, including your demographic data and decisions during the game, will be recorded anonymously. The study will take approximately 18 minutes in total. You will be given instructions about collecting your payment, and any additional funds earned during the game, at the end of the experiment.
   </p>

   <p>
   <b>Participant rights</b>
      Your participation is voluntary and you are free to leave the study at any point without explanation and without any of your medical, social care, education, or legal rights being affected. You have the right to omit or refuse to answer or respond to any question that is asked of you. You have the right to ask that any data you have supplied to that point be withdrawn/destroyed. You can do this by emailing the lead researcher (eugene.malthouse@warwick.ac.uk). If at any time you wish to withdraw from the study, please close your browser. We will keep responses collected prior to the game itself, but will discard any responses provided during the game. Please bear in mind that closing your browser during the second part of the experiment (the game) will terminate the game for all players in your group. If this occurs, the withdrawing player will be unable to redeem their participation fee, while the other players in the group will receive their participation fee only (in other words, they will be unable to retain any additional funds from the game).
   </p>

   <p>
      <b>Benefits and risks</b>
      There are no known benefits or risks beyond everyday life for you in this study. This study will be useful in understanding how groups solve problems.
   </p>
   <p>
      <b>Expenses and payments</b>
      You will receive payment for participating upon completion of the experiment, plus any funds that you have earned during the game.
   </p>
   <p>
      <b>Confidentiality</b>
      No identifying information will be collected from you ensuring the anonymity of your data. Once the experiment is completed and you have submitted your responses, it will not be possible to identify your data for withdrawal but nor will it be possible to link it to you. Your data will be stored securely on password-protected computers and servers. The data will only be accessed by the researchers and supervisors named above and will not be shared with any other organisations.
   </p>
   <p>
      <b>What will happen to the data collected about me?</b>
      We will be using information from you in order to undertake this study and will act as the data controller for this study. This means that we are responsible for looking after your information and using it properly. We will use your data in the ways needed to conduct and analyse the research study. We are committed to protecting the rights of individuals in line with data protection legislation. The University of Warwick will keep non-identifiable information about you for 5 years after the study has finished, until 1st March 2027.
   </p>
   <p>
      <b>Data sharing</b>
      Your rights to access, change or move your information are limited, as we need to manage your information in specific ways in order for the research to be reliable and accurate. The University of Warwick has in place policies and procedures to keep your data safe. This data may also be used for future research following review and approval by an independent Research Ethics Committee, and subject to your consent at the outset of this research project. The project does not involve or report comparisons or evaluations of individuals; the results will be reported anonymously. Anonymised data will be submitted to journals and open science repositories.
