This experiment goes over 5 rounds. In the beginning of each round, participants are randomly matched in groups of three. The experiment is computerized. You make all your decisions at the computer.

In each round you will choose a number X from 1 to 7, like every other participant in your group. Your round payoff depends on the X you choose and the smallest X chosen in the group (including your own choice).

Your round payoff in experimental currency units:

At the end of each round, you will be informed about the smallest X chosen in the group and your corresponding payoff. Then the next round begins, with a new randomly matched group.

At the end of the experiment, your payoffs from all rounds will be summed up and added to your account. Every 8 ECUs will be exchanged into 1 chocolate. We will randomly draw 5 lucky participants to get the payoff.
