You will be shown the 9 feedback that are available to the manager to send to his/her paired worker in the feedback stages. For each message you need to answer the following two questions:
Based on the responses of the 75 participants:
1. What do you think the average rating will be regarding framing of this message?
The scale is from 1 to 5 where:
1 = Extremely negative
2 = Somewhat negative
3 = Neutral, neither negative nor positive
4 = Somewhat positive
5 = Extremely positive
2. What do you think the average rating will be regarding the constructiveness of this message?
The scale is from 1 to 5:
1 = Extremely unconstructive
2 = Somewhat unconstructive
3 = Neutral, neither unconstructive nor constructive
4 = Somewhat constructive
5 = Extremely constructive
Payment Rule for Task B
You may receive payment depending on your answers for Questions 1-2. For each message, the computer will randomly select one of the two questions to calculate the payment. You will receive an additional $0.20 if you guess is close enough (within ±0.5) to the average rating.
Example:
Assume that question 2 is randomly selected for payment for message 1. If you gave message 1 a rating of 2 and the average rating for that message was 3, you would receive $0.00. If instead, the average rating was 2.3, then you would receive an additional $0.20. The process will be repeated for the other 8 messages.
