In this stage, you will transcribe strings of Greek letters. There will be two types of transcription assignments: easy and hard.
For the easy assignment, the string length will be 6 letters (see figure 1A below).
Figure 1A: Transcription Task [Easy]-Example
For the hard assignment, the string length will be 8 letters, and the images provided for the hard assignment will be blurrier (see figure 1B below).
Figure 1B: Transcription Task [Hard]-Example
As shown in the two figures, for each assignment, you will see at the top of the screen a string of Greek letters.
By clicking on the appropriate buttons in the bottom row, you can generate a string that it matches the image. If you believe you have made a mistake, you can correct your answer by clicking on the delete key.
Note that the order of the buttons will be randomized for each assignment.
Payment of the Transcription Task
You will be paid based on your accuracy of transcription.
For each assignment, you will receive 1 ECU for each letter transcribed correctly.
Besides, you will also receive a bonus of 10 ECUs (24 ECUs) for each string in the easy (hard) assignment that is transcribed “fully correctly.” A transcription is “fully correct” if and only if your input perfectly matches the string in the image.
Once you are satisfied with what you have transcribed, click the "NEXT" button and a new string of letters will appear.
Practice Rounds
There will be two practice rounds in stage II, one for the easy assignment and one for the hard assignment. You will work on the easy assignment first, then the hard assignment. Each practice round will last for 60 seconds. The practice rounds will help you get familiar with the assignments. You will not be paid in practice rounds.
In each round, the assignments are randomly generated. Every participant will observe the same assignments in the same order.
