    Welcome again, and thank you for participating in today’s experiment. Please read the following instructions carefully. It is important that you understand all the details. All of the procedures used will be exactly as they are described in these instructions.
</p>
<p>
    Because this study is being conducted online, we are relying on you to pay extra attention and make sure you follow all of the directions. Before continuing please make sure you understand and agree to the following basic ground rules:
</p>
<p>
(1) The study should be completed in one dedicated session. You should not be working simultaneously on other tasks. The study should take about 45-60 minutes to complete. Please continue only if you are willing to finish the task and agree not to multitask or refer to any outside materials while you are participating.
</p>

(2) Please do not discuss the study with any other individuals who have already participated or might participate in the future.
</p>
<p>
(3) Although this study is conducted online, everything has been programmed exactly as described in the instructions, with no deception of any kind.
</p>
<p>
    By completing today’s online experiment, you are guaranteed to receive extra credit if needed. You will also have an opportunity to earn additional cash payments based on decisions you make in each phase, and the decisions made by the other participants, as will be explained in the next screen. At the end of the experiment, the computer will display your final payment. You will be paid using Venmo. 
</p>
<p>
    During this experiment, you will be asked to make several decisions and so will other participants. The decisions you will make, as well as the decision made by other participants, will determine your final payoff as will be explained below. The money will be paid to you in cash (through Venmo) after the experiment, exactly according to these rules.
</p>
<p>
    The experiment will have three parts. Here are the instructions for the first part. You will receive instructions for the second and third parts after the first part is concluded.
The experiment will be conducted using your computer. All decisions will be made by clicking the relevant buttons. Please do not use a phone or a tablet. At the end of this experiment, either task 1 or task 3 will be selected randomly to count as your payment.
