This section consists of only one task. You will complete 10 rounds of the task.
Like the previous tasks, this task involves a 4x4 grid of squares in which the value of one square is displayed and the rest are hidden. As before, the values of the hidden squares are equally likely to be any number between 0 and 100, and the computer will randomly generate a new grid each round.
Unlike the previous tasks, each round of this task consists of only one turn. So each round, you will make only one decision: whether to choose the square whose value is displayed, or a square whose value is hidden. The value of the square that you click on will determine your payoff for that round.
At the end of the study, the computer will randomly choose one round from the 10 rounds of this section to count for payment. All rounds have the same probability of being chosen.
At the end of the study, the selected round and the amount of points that you earned in that round will be shown on the screen. These points will determine your total earnings from Section 2 of the study. 100 points are worth 1 dollar.
When you are ready, you may begin the Section 2 task.
