In this second part, we will ask you to describe your beliefs about how the other participants in the current experiment (in other words, people that are doing the same task as you are now doing) perceive the contributions of the Prolific users who participated in the task described earlier (in other words, the people that were making decisions about investing in a joint project in an earlier experiment).
You are going to receive information about cases previously observed. You will then be asked to evaluate ""According to the other participants, how appropriate is the observed behavior on a scale from 1 (Very Socially Inappropriate) to 4 (Very Socially Appropriate)?"
Note that your task is not to give your own opinion. Rather, your task is to guess the most common response provided by the other respondents taking part in this experiment.
That is, your task is to guess how the others would perceive each situation.
We check the most common response of all participants on each question to determine the correct answer.
You will earn 100 points if your response to the question is the same as the most common response.
One question will be randomly selected to be paid.
An example:
Consider the participants taking the role of Group Member 2 .
You will analyze the second round. The contributions of each participant in the first round were the following:
Project's contributions the first round | |
{{player.participant.rol}} contributed: | 12 |
Group Member 2 contributed: | 14 |
Group Member 1 contributed: | 5 |
Please answer the following question: "According to the other participants, how appropriate is it for Group Member 2 to contribute more than 5 in the second round? (On a scale from 1 (Very Socially Inappropriate) to 4 (Very Socially Appropriate)?"
Your earnings
You will be asked to evaluate multiple cases like this.
For each case, we will check the most common response of all participants to the question to determine the correct answer.
One case will be randomly selected to determine your earnings, You will earn 100 points if your answer to the question about this case is the same as the most common response.
In the example above, if the most common response to the question was that it is “Very Socially Appropriate” for Group member 2 to contribute more than 5 and you guessed this correctly, then you will earn 100 points.
One case will be randomly selected, and you will be paid according to the earnings associated with that answer.
