Thank you for your participation. This is a small task about decisions in uncertain situations, which will take about 5-10 minutes. In this task, you will be matched with another MTurker (referred as 'your partner' below).
Your task is to pick a lottery from two options. All of your choices will be played out for your bonus payment. The prizes are determined by rolling a computerized 100-sided dice. Each outcome, 1 to 100, is equally likely.
For example, you may be asked to choose between the following two lotteries:
----------In other words, Option A will have a 5 in 10 chance of earning $0.30 tokens and a 5 in 10 chance of earning $1.00. Option B gives you $0.55 regardless of the dice's outcome.
To determine your results, for each lottery, we will conduct one draw of the computerized 100-sided dice to determine the outcome for you, then another dice is drawn to determine the outcome for your partner.
For example, if we draw number 8, 8 will be used to compute the outcome of your lottery, but not your partner's.
At the end of the tasks, your and your partner's amount earned and dice results will be shown to you.
Please answer the following question about the task before you are matched with another MTurker to begin the task. You will not be able to receive the bonus payment if you do not give the right answer.
