Task 1 consists of 16 questions divided into 4 blocks. Each block is comprised of 4 questions plus one survey question. There will be a two-minute break before the start of the third block, and you are requested to remain seated during the break. All these questions will potentially determine your payment (plus the guaranteed participation fee of €12).

Each question requires you to state your preference between Option A and Option B. Under Option A you can win €10 based on whether the accuracy rate of a particular analyst falls within a given range (or not), and under Option B you can win €10 with a given probability. As a reminder, the accuracy rate of the analyst's prediction is the number of accurate predictions divided by the total number of predictions. For example, if the analyst has made 15 accurate predictions out of the 20 stocks, this means the analyst’s accuracy rate is 75%. Therefore, the accuracy rate will never be below 0% and will never be above 100%. Each question divides the 0%-100% range into smaller sub-ranges (colored in blue and green in the charts) and asks your assessment of the probability that the analyst's accuracy rate falls in that range.

Example 1 is a practice question that requires to state your preference between Option A and Option B. Under Option A you can win €10 when the algorithmic analyst’s accuracy rate falls within the range of strictly higher than 60% and less than 100% (colored in green) and under Option B you can win €10 with a given probability p%. On the left, there is a description of Option A, along with a simple graph to help you understand the sub-ranges of the algorithmic analyst’s accuracy rate (colored in blue and green in the charts). On the right, Option B is presented with ascending p%, from 0% to 100%. For each value of p%, you are asked to state your preference between Option A (accuracy rate falls within the green part) and Option B (given probability) by clicking on the respective option button.

Example 2 is another practice question. There are 3 differences compared to the previous example:

We suggest you to check the differences in the choices below which have been already filled in as an illustration.
