Mammogram is the primary diagnosis tool for breast cancer. It is an x-ray picture of the breast. If diagnosed, breast cancer is treated in several ways including: surgery, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and radiation therapy. A mammogram costs on average 80−120 dollars for uninsured patients and are usually covered by health insurance for women. It will usually take 15 minutes to complete. Discomfort from mammogram varies from patient to patient. While some may experience discomfort due to the compression that is applied to the breast, most women tolerate the exam quite well.
