Please read this consent agreement carefully before you decide to participate in the study.
You are invited to be a subject in a research project. Volunteering may not benefit you directly, but you will be helping us explore the science of decision making with risk. If you volunteer, you will complete a questionnaire, make some decision related to gambling and do a survey. This will take about 15 minutes of your time. Volunteering for this study involves no more risk than what a typical person experiences on a regular day. Your involvement is entirely up to you. You may withdraw at any time for any reason. STUDY LEADERSHIP: This research project is led by student Xi Chen of the Claremont Graduate University, who is being supervised by Professor C. Monica Capra.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this project is to find out how people make risky purchasing behavior under different risk system.
ELIGIBILITY: To be in this study, you must be in good health, more than 18 years old and registered on Prolific.
PARTICIPATION: During the study, you will be asked to finish a risk tolerance test, join a gambling test and finish a survey. This will take about 15 minutes.
RISKS OF PARTICIPATION: The risks that you run by taking part in this study are minimal.
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION: We do not expect the study to benefit you personally. This study will benefit the researchers by using the result to publish a paper in a scientific journal.
COMPENSATION: You will be directly compensated $2 given 15 minutes using in this project, and also a bonus payment up to $2 through the different section of project. Total earnings may differ from person to person.
VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION: Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You may stop or withdraw from the study at any time without it being held against you. Your decision whether or not to participate will have no effect on your current or future connection with anyone at CGU.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Your individual privacy will be protected in all papers, books, talks, posts, or stories resulting from this study. We may use the data we collect for future research or share it with other researchers, but we will not reveal your identity with it. In order to protect the confidentiality of your responses. We will assign you a unique ID code and all your decision will be link to that ID code. Your name will not be used in any report, and we will obtain no information linking your name to the ID number.
