This research is being conducted to study individual decision making. If you agree to participate in this study, you will use a lab computer to make decisions that will affect the amount of compensation you will earn. You will be asked not to interact with other media or other participants. At the end of the study, you will complete a questionnaire. The study will take about 45-60 minutes.
RISKSThere are no foreseeable risks from participating in this research.
BENEFITSThere are no benefits to you as a participant.
CONFIDENTIALITYThe data collected in this research will be confidential. Names and other personal information will not be associated with research data. De-identified data may be used for future research without additional consent from participants. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) committee which monitors research on human subjects may inspect study records during internal auditing procedures and is required to keep all information confidential.
PARTICIPATIONYou must be 18 years or older to take part in the study. Your participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time and for any reason. If you decide not to participate or if you withdraw from the study, there is no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. There are no costs to you and any other party. You will be eligible to receive the $10.00 show-up plus your additional earnings from this study only if you adhere to the instructions. Once you successfully complete the experiment, you will receive a minimum of $10.00 plus any additional compensation in cash at the end of this experimental session. The minimum compensation is the show-up fee. Under the U.S. federal tax law you may have individual responsibilities for disclosing the dollar value of the incentive received on this study.
