HERE COMES THE GAME INSTRUCTION. LET'S GOOOO~
First no Punishment, then punishment
In this experiment, we will mimic the choices we faced regarding contributions to public goods.
We will play two sections of 5 rounds/subgames. Beginning with a test round, so don't worry.
You are distributed into groups of 4.
Each participant starts with an endowment of 30 points.
In the groups, you have a shared pool of resources. In each round, you choose how many points to put into the shared pool individually.
For every 1 point that enters the pool, every participant will receive and equal share multiplied by 1,8 points - regardless of their own contribution.
Consequently, the points are maximized when each player contributes with their entire endowment every round - but watch out; there may be free-riders among you.
You will play repeat the game 5 times.
Second section:
In this section, you start from scratch with an endowment of 30 points.
First, you will play the same subgames as in the first section.
After each round, you will see the contribution made by each of the players.
You can punish anti-social behavior by taking away points from the other players. However, this is costly for you! The cost increases with the amount the penalty amount. You will see the exact amount of penalty and affiliated cost whenever you have to make the decision.
To sum up, your total points after each round is given by:
Points= endowment - contribution + 1.8 x shared resources - penalty - cost of penalty
You will repeat this 5 times.
__
You have 1 minute to insert your contribution and 1 minute to choose a penalty. So pay attention. If you fail to report your decision before 1 minute has passed, the default contribution and penalty is 0.
