The information in this form is being used to seek your consent for a research study. Being in the study is voluntary, it is up to you.
This research is being done to find out whether people can predict, infer and learn from someone else’s choices and their outcomes. If you choose to participate, you will be assigned to a study condition at random. Participation will last up to 60 minutes. If you agree to participate in the research, you may:

Protecting your privacy in this study
We will take steps to help make sure that all the information we get about you is kept private. Your name will not be used, we will use an anonymized code instead that does not allow any inferences to be made to you. All the study data that we get from you will be kept locked up or on password-protected computers. If any papers and talks are given about this research, your name will not be used.
Identifiers will be removed from your identifiable private information and after such removal, the anonymized data may be used for future research studies or distributed to another investigator for future research studies without additional informed consent from you or your legally authorized representative.
Upon completion of this study, our plan involves sharing anonymized data on publicly accessible servers such as but not limited to the Open Science Framework or github, where it may be stored and used for future research. These locations are considered unrestricted-access/public databases. That means that only totally anonymous information obtained as part of your participation in this study will be put in a public or unrestricted-access database.
We want to make sure that this study is being done correctly and that your rights and welfare are being protected. For this reason, we will share the data we get from you in this study with the study team, Stony Brook University's Institutional Review Board, applicable Institutional officials, and certain federal offices, including the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP). However, if you tell us you are going to hurt yourself, hurt someone else, or if we believe the safety of a child is at risk, we will have to report this.
There are no financial costs or other foreseeable costs associated with being a participant in this study. You will receive 1 credit for participating in this study. The amount of payment is dependent upon completion of the project.
You have the right to change your mind and leave the study at any time without giving any reason, and without penalty. You can print a copy of this consent form to keep. You do not lose any of your legal rights by agreeing to participate in this study.
