We're inviting you to take part in a research study. We are conducting the study to investigate how individuals make pricing decisions in a market with different buyer types and uncertainty about rivals' costs.
We will not collect identifying information (such as names, dates of birth, or email addresses) for this research.
Where will my data be stored and how will it be protected?
The experiment is fully computerized. The software records only anonymous, de-identified data.
Each participant's decisions are associated with a unique identifier generated by the software.
We will use oTreeHub to conduct experiments and Heroku to store the data. Please see
Heroku's privacy announcements for details. All de-identified data will also be stored in a
secure, password-protected GMU OneDrive folder accessible only to the research team.
How long will it be kept?
De-identified data will be retained for a minimum of five years following the completion of the study, after which it will be permanently deleted.
Who can see my data?
We (the researchers) will have access to de-identified data (no names, birthdate, address, etc.) so we can analyze the data and conduct the study. Agencies that enforce legal and ethical guidelines, such as The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at George Mason University and The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), may also see the data.
We may share our findings in publications or presentations. If we do, the results will be aggregate (grouped) data with no individual results.
Your compensation includes a $5 arrive-on-time bonus and another $5 bonus upon the completion of the experiment. The remaining amount depends on the points you earn during the experiment, which are converted to cash. Payments are made in private and in cash.
Under the U.S. federal tax law you may have individual responsibilities for disclosing the dollar value of the incentive received on this study.
