You are invited to take part in an academic research study. Before you decide to participate in this study, it is esstential that you understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take the time to read the following information carefully.
This study aims to understand better how you make social judgments and decisions.

This study has been reviewed by the University of Exeter Research Ethics Committee and received a favorable review. We will ask you to read some instructions, make some decisions, and end with answering some questions about yourself. If you complete the study, you are guaranteed the participation fee.
There is unlikely any direct or personal benefit to your participation beyond its material rewards. However, there may be some benefit to society, but this cannot be assured at the start of any research project. Additionally, there are no risks to taking part in this study other than what you may encounter daily interacting with a computer. If you feel any discomfort or doubt about participating, you can stop at any time before completing the survey.
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You are under no obligation to participate and may stop at any time. However, if you quit before completing the study, your information will not be saved, and you will not have completed the survey. Withdrawal after participation is impossible as your submitted responses will not be identifiable to the researcher to enable removal from the data set.
Prolific does not provide your name and contact details. Therefore, the responses you make during the survey are anonymous. There will be some personal demographics that we ask for, but the totality of information you provide will not allow us to conclude your true identity. Also, your responses to this survey are not subject to GDPR for two reasons:
You may contact the Prolific, who will hold identifying personal data that you could request to be deleted, but this will not affect your participation in this study once completed.
