John has shared his real-time location with us using Google Maps location sharing. He has agreed to keep sharing his location with us for a week.
Location sharing works as follows: once John shares his location with our email address, we can view John's location on a map. John does not receive notifications when we view his location.
Importantly, John values privacy and is cautious about others checking his location.
Here is the twist. We will either:
If we monitor John's location, we will not use this information in any way. For example, we will not try to find him or share his location with anyone else; we will simply know where he is.
John will not know whether we monitor his location or how often we do so unless we tell him. There is no way for him to find out on his own.
John has agreed to all of this. For example, he knows that we might or might not monitor his location.
