Roles

You will play a game with one other person.

Each person will be assigned a role. One person will be a terrorist organization, trying to conduct a suicide bombing attack on the government. The other person will be the head of the government's security agency, trying to stop the attack.

Your role

You will play as the {{ if player.role == Constants.mismatcher_role}} terrorists. {{ else }} government. {{ endif }}

Actions

In each round, the terrorists send two people, a man and a woman. However, they plant a bomb on only one of these two people.

In each round, the government only has enough resources to inspect one person, either the man or the woman.

If the government searches the person who has the bomb, they stop the attack. However, if they inspect the person without the bomb, the attack succeeds and the terrorists win.

Payoffs

The payoffs depend on who the terrorists send.

Women are more effective at their job. So if the terrorist organization sends a woman and she succeeds, she kills {{ subsession.woman_payoff }} people on average. Therefore, the terrorists earn a payoff of {{ subsession.woman_payoff }} if they succeed. Or, the government earns {{ subsession.woman_payoff }} if they stop the attack, saving {{ subsession.woman_payoff }} lives.

Male terrorists only kill {{ subsession.man_payoff }} people if they succeed. This earns the terrorists {{ subsession.man_payoff }}. Otherwise, the government earns {{ subsession.man_payoff }} for stopping the attack.

In future rounds this may vary, such that men or women kill a different number of people.
