You are now entering the second part of the experiment.

In this part of the experiment, you will remain your role (client/expert) as in the previous part.

This part of the experiment will be similar to the previous part, consisting of 10 rounds: In every round, the client is facing a problem, and the expert invests tokens to diagnose the problem and recommend solutions. The client may have an opportunity to make his/her own choice of solutions after receiving the solution recommendation from the expert.

However, in this part, there is an additional stage in each round, where the matched client and expert may chat via the chat box.
The chat box will occur after the expert’s diagnostic result and recommended solution are generated. At this stage, the client and the expert can send messages to each other by typing in the chat text box and pushing ENTER on the keyboard.

When chatting, you should NOT share any information that identifies (or helps to identify) who you are. You should not share your background information, for example, name, age, gender, location in the lab, etc. If you break this rule, we will exclude you from any earnings from the experiment.

For the first round, the chat will last for 3 minutes (180 seconds). After the first round, this chat will last for 1.5 minutes (90 seconds).
There will be a countdown on the top right of the screen that you can refer to. Once the time is out, you will move on to the next stage of the experiment. And if you and your matched player finish your chat ahead of time, you both still have to wait until time is out.

After chatting, the client will decide the solution that he/she would like to receive. Finally, similar to the previous part of the experiment, both the client and the expert receive feedback about the actual problem, the solution, and their own payment.

Notice that the payment rule remains identical to the rule in the previous part of experiment that you just played:
For the client, if he/she receives the correct solution to his/her problem, he/she will receive 120 tokens. And if he/she does not receive the correct solution, he/she will receive 20 tokens.
For the expert, he/she receives 120 tokens as the payment for providing diagnosis and solution for the client, no matter whether the expert successfully solve the client’s problem or not. But the diagnosis may be costly, following the cost table below:

Diagnostic Accuracy 50% 60% 70% 80% 90% 100%
Cost of diagnosis in tokens 0 1 4 8 16 25
