1. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine approximately how many puzzles can be solved in a set amount of time to use as parameters for another study.
2. Description of Study: You are being asked to take part in a research study. If you decide to take part, you will be asked to perform a short, compensated task for 3 rounds. This study will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
3. Benefits: There are no direct benefits to you from participating in this study. However, your participation may contribute to advancing research in behavioral decision-making and task performance.
4. Incentives: You will receive a guaranteed payment of $5.00 for completing this study. In addition, you may earn extra compensation based on your performance in the study task. The exact amount you earn will depend on your responses during the task. There is no maximum payment, as it completely depends on your performance. All payments will be made through Prolific.
5. Risks: There are no known risks associated with this study.
6. Confidentiality: No identifying information will be tied to your responses in this study. All data will be stored on a password-protected computer. Data will be retained for a minimum of three years following completion of the study.
7. Alternative Procedures: There are no alternative procedures.
8. Participant’s Assurance: This project and this consent form have been approved by the Institutional Review Board, which ensures that research projects involving human subjects follow federal regulations. I understand that participation in this project is completely voluntary, and I may withdraw at any time without penalty, prejudice, or loss of benefits. Unless described above, all personal information will be kept strictly confidential, including my name and other identifying information. All procedures to be followed and their purposes were explained to me. Information was given about all benefits, risks, inconveniences, or discomforts that might be expected. Any new information that develops during the project will be provided to me if that information may affect my willingness to continue participation in the project.
