In today's study, you will make a few decisions related to the exam in Economics I. Please read the following information about the grading of the exam carefully. In Economics I, we follow the official regulations of the TUM (“Allgemeinen Prüfungs- und Studienordnung”) for the grading of multiple-choice examinations.

(A) Passing Limit

Multiple-Choice examinations are passed,

  1. if at least 60 percent of the questions have been answered correctly; or
  2. if at least 50 percent of all answers are correct and the number of correct answers does not fall below the average examination results achieved by students taking this examination for the first time by more than 22 percent.

(B) Grades

The grade for multiple-choice examinations shall be:

  1. "very good" if at least 75 percent of the questions beyond the passing limit have been answered correctly.
  2. "good" if at least 50 percent but less than 75 percent of the questions beyond the passing limit have been answered correctly.
  3. "satisfactory" if at least 25 percent but less than 50 percent of the questions beyond the passing limit have been answered correctly.
  4. "sufficient" if less than 25 percent of the questions beyond the passing limit have been answered correctly.

Also, note that universities in Germany apply the following 1.0 to 5.0 grading system to assess their students’ academic performance.
