This is a brief example to help improve your understanding of the choices we are asking you make in this experiment. Remember, this is an example question with the sole purpose of familiarizing you with the computer interface. The outcome of this question will not be paid to anyone. The first row of numbers is option 1, and the second row of numbers is option 2. Each option consists of 6 payments, 3 payments issued to player 1 on 3 different dates and 3 payments issued to player 2 on those same dates. Please select which option, 1 or 2, you would rather be paid to the players. We will ask a few brief comprehension questions to check your understanding of the payment structure. For the purposes of these comprehension questions, assume that your answer in the above choice was selected to become the decision-that-counts.

Part 1 consists on many choices similar to this one. For simplicity, the dates on the payment schedule are the same in each choice--the only thing different between choices is the payment amounts for each person on each date. Once you have made all of your decisions for part 1, your decision-that-counts will be selected and paid to other participants in accordance with the procedure outlined on the previous page.
