THe thing with comics is that there's no unneccessary elements - if you don't need to draw it, it's not there. One of the best examples is the Silver Surfer - Jack Kirby's classic design is just a bald humanoid encased head to toe in glistening metal. If you try to translate this into the real world, you're going to fail pretty epically. This dude tried to pull it off with a couple rolls of tinfoil and basically ended up looking like the world's saddest baked potato.
