While I'm lodging niggling pet peevish complaints, let's
talk about statistics for a moment, shall we? WWE is very, very fond of
pointing out that in matches like the Elimination Chamber for instance, the
chances are heavily, heavily stacked against the reigning champion. First off,
that's assuming that every wrestler going into a match has an equal chance at
winning, which even if everyone had exactly the same rating in WWE '12, would be impossible in a match
like the Elimination Chamber, where entrances are staggered.
Even worse though, it implies that the champion's chances of
retaining are 1 in 6 (like it's decided by a dice roll), which is fine until
you consider that SO ARE EVERYONE ELSE'S. I don't mind WWE hyping up an "odds
are against the crowd favorite!" storyline, in fact, I think it's the smart
thing to do going into these 3+ people matches, but it's always bugged me the
way they drag fake math into their fixed wrestling matches.
