How has the quotient of sex and violence changed with season two?
Dan Powell: The "Pre-enactment" episode was probably about as violent
as we're going to get.
Devin Clark: Yeah...this season!
Dan Powell: There's a flashback with Twayne where we learn that
when he was an infant, he was part of a litter. Like a litter of demon babies,
and Twayne ended up pretty much ended killing the rest of the babies in the
litter except for one. He was the runt, his brother and that was one of the main
characters in the episode. We were watching the scene and definitely take a
step back from it for a second and be like "did we go too far on this
particular one?"
Devin Clark: Well, it's funny because Twayne is actually almost a
perfect embodiment of the show. He's this horrifying demon but
he's also a bumbling boob, like a beer crack stuck in the '80s. But he straddles
that line as well, like we do with this show. So sometimes he's this terrifying
creature, and sometimes he's falling on his face into a cake. It's interesting,
so like we see into his dark past, and Mark of course in an attempt to help the
situation taps into this brutal side of Twayne that he probably should have
left well enough alone. He's usually our main crux in his attempt be in social
work and get to the heart of things, and messes it up.
Dan Powell: Yeah, that's my favorite thing. He's very endearing and
he's very well meaning, but usually the steps he takes to try to fix someone
ends up making things worse. We're very hard
on Mark, but ...he's such a sweet, good natured guy, but we pretty much have him
fail at almost everything that he tries.
Devin Clark: One of the episodes towards the back half of the
season, Callie replaces Mark with a clone in order to win at a bowling league.
He's a terrible bowler, so she makes a more aggressive Mark clone and it was
actually a really fun opportunity to see what like an Agro-Mark would
be like, and so Matt Oberg, the voice of mark, did this character as a much more
gruff individual, and it's really funny. It's like seeing Mark, since we kind of
play him so neutered most of the time, it's like seeing him as like this jerk,
it's hilarious, it's a very funny story.
Dan Powell: Slapping Randall when he
doesn't get his way. He glove slaps
everyone, smoking a cigarette instead of putting it out before the office.
