It's hard to imagine a show more appealing to little boys than Knight Rider. What could be cooler than a super car who helps you solve crimes and is also your best friend?
A lot of KITT's fancy effects were expensive to produce, so anytime you see KITT do something really cool like a Turbo Boost or a transformation into Super Pursuit Mode, it's all recycled footage. When KITT goes out of Super Pursuit Mode it's just the same footage put in reverse. Additionally, the show recycled tons of the same footage of KITT just driving along highways.
