If you’re an anti-Cena guy, you’re going to have a lot to rant and rave about in the comments this week, as I fully believe that he was behind Raw’s best moments this week. One of the most persistent and most ridiculous criticisms of the guy is that he can’t wrestle, and this week was a perfect example to the contrary.

Cena’s match against the Miz will never be construed as a mat classic or a clinic of any kind, but the match accomplished exactly what it was supposed to. First, Cena let the Miz get over on his way to the ring, courtesy of his not inconsiderable mic-skills. Then, when the bell rang, Cena sprung into action, looking both smoother and meaner than I’ve seen him in recent months, tossing out kicks, knees and suplexes like nobody’s business. Most significantly though, he managed to miraculously make the Miz, a guy who has mostly been a punching bag since last year’s WrestleMania, look like an actual threat. Yeah, Cena ended up beating him clean – as he should – but before he did so, he made sure that everyone knew Miz was a real competitor, which in turn, made Cena look better by beating him.
