When Vladmir Nabakov penned his 1955 ode to a pederast professor and his prebuscent love, I'm not sure he envsioned Japanese girls in black and white Victorian-esque dresses clutching parasols and teddy bears, but alas here we are.  A niche, fashion subculture has made its way across the ocean and become so pervasive, there's even a store catering to the "Gothic Lolita" crowd here in New York.  If you're going to dive head first into Otaku culture, you should probably find out what's up with the chicks dressed like Strawberry Shortcake at Charles Frederick Worth's funeral.
